A Cloud Guru Receives National Recognition for Company Culture and Diversity
At the start of every new year, I find myself looking back on the previous 12 months, reflecting on what went well, what didn’t, and everything in between. With 2020, this exercise proved a little more challenging than normal — for every good event, there seemed to be ten bad ones. But as I thought back on some of the year’s biggest crises — a global pandemic, a contentious election (and its fallout), the racism thrust to the forefront of our national consciousness — I was inspired by the resilience of the human spirit, and, more personally, by my colleagues at A Cloud Guru.
Despite everything that transpired last year, all of our gurus showed up to work with the goal of making technology accessible: no matter who you are or where you live, you can learn to master working in the cloud. Not only did we deliver on this promise to our customers, but we also supported one another, learned from each other, and had a lot of laughs along the way. It’s this culture of continual learning, humility, accountability, and fun that makes A Cloud Guru such a special place to work.
What we’ve built here at A Cloud Guru is special and it has been recognized by the business community in Austin, TX as we recently took the number one spot on BuiltIn Austin’s Best Place to Work list. We were also recognized on BuiltIn Austin’s Best Midsize Companies to Work For, Best Paying Companies, and Companies with the Best Benefits lists.
On a national level, the career website Comparably also recognized A Cloud Guru’s culture, placing us on their Best Company Culture list. To compile these rankings, Comparably anonymously asked employees across 60,000 US companies from December 1, 2019 to December 1, 2020 50 questions related to how satisfied they are with their company’s culture. Based on 2,346 ratings and 83 participants, A Cloud Guru received an A+ overall culture score.
Finally, and perhaps most important to me personally, we were also placed on Comparably’s list of Best Companies for Diversity. For this list, Comparably anonymously asked employees of color to rate their company based on 50 questions covering 20 different metrics, including satisfaction with working at the company, pay, and benefits. I am especially proud of this recognition because it’s so aligned with our purpose to empower anyone anywhere to achieve a brighter future through learning cloud with us. We are uniquely positioned to be champions for inclusion and equity in an industry and space that typically falls short on these expectations.
My personal mission is to make A Cloud Guru, and the tech industry as a whole, a space that respects and includes all people.
There’s no way to know what this year has in store for us; if 2020 taught us anything, it’s that life is unpredictable. But I can say one thing for sure: here at A Cloud Guru, we are committed to making technology more accessible to everyone, especially to those who are historically excluded, and maintaining our positive company culture that is built on diversity, enthusiasm, and passion. Bring it on 2021!
